Former PhD Candidate at TU Delft Faculty of Architecture|Research Assistant @ Yaşar University
Cemre Cubukcuoglu defended her PhD thesis titled ‘Hospital Layout Design Optimization using Computational Architecture’ on January 2023. The aim of the thesis was to develop a design methodology and a layout optimization tool for solving spatial connectivity problems (long walking distances, difficulty in wayfinding etc.) in hospitals. Cemre Cubukcuoglu has received her B.Sc. in Yaşar University from Industrial Engineering in 2013 and she gained her M.Sc. degree in 2015 from the same department in Yaşar University. During her master studies, she attended the courses and design studios of architecture department apart from the industrial engineering master courses. This fact gave her a chance to extend her master studies to an interdisciplinary approach between “Computational Intelligence” and “Architecture”. She completed her master thesis entitled “Multi-Objective Computational Design in Architecture”. Her research areas include Computational Design, Multi-Objective Optimization in Architecture and Interiors, Performative Design, Energy and Daylight Simulation, Space Syntax, Graph Theory, Hospital Layout Design, Advanced Production Technologies.Image Credit:
